The National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, says the Akufo-Addo government has refused to provide former President John Mahama with residential and office accommodation since he left office in 2017.
”President Akufo-Addo should tell us why his government has refused to provide John Dramani with his entitlements such as residential accommodation and office accommodation since he left office in 2017?
”He should tell us why his government has refused to take care of the utility bills, medical bills and other entitlements of the former President,” Mr. Gyamfi stressed in a Facebook post sighted by 24news.news
The NDC National Communication Officer has also has stated that at no point under President John Mahama were First and Second Ladies paid salaries.
According to him, the First and Second Ladies, as well as former First and Second Ladies were paid allowances on a quarterly basis, as had been the case under predecessors of John Dramani Mahama.
“These allowances were paid every quarter by the Chief of Staff from the financial allocation of the Office of the President and not the Ministry of Finance.
”The document being circulated by NPP social media activists is fake,” he said.
He described it as an unconstitutional decision to pay the Presidential spouses a monthly salary equivalent to the salary of a Cabinet Minister, including allowances and other benefits.
”No government in Ghana’s history has ever done that. And no amount of lies or desperate effort calculated at equalizing or rationalizing this clearly selfish and reprehensible move will wash.
