Muntaka apologizes to Supreme Court over bribery allegation

The Minority Chief Whip and a Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase Constituency, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has retracted his bribery allegation against a Justice of the Supreme Court.

This came as a result of accusing a Justice of the Supreme Court who tried to bribe a female parliamentary member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to influence her in the election of a Speaker of Parliament for the 8th parliament.

In a press statement signed by the Minority Chief Whip, he apologised for the harm done to the image and reputation of the Justices of the Supreme Court and members of the Judiciary, though no name was specified.

However, Mr Muntaka urged the general public and the media to respect his retraction and apology.

Meanwhile, he prays that the existing relationship between the legislature and Judiciary will not be affected by his misconduct but will grow in the interests of the country.
