Gov’t will not negotiate with these Togoland criminals – Bawumia

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has completely dismissed suggestions that the government will negotiate with members of Togoland who are championing  secessionists activities in the Volta region of the country.

Describing members of Togoland as criminals, the Vice President maintained, “the government will never negotiate with these criminals for any reason.”

Speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM, Dr. Bawumia stressed that the criminal activities of this group could be replicated in other parts of the country if nothing is done about it.

He was of the view that all political parties, religious organisations and civil society organisations in the country must work together to provide intelligence where necessary to curb the operations of the group.

He expressed disappointment at the opposition National Democratic Congress’s position that it was planned by the government to destabilise and create in the region so that residents will not turn out to vote during the 2020 elections.

The secessionist group on midnight of September 28, 2020 had again attacked the State Transport Company (STC) bus in Ho, and burnt one of the buses.
