The New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman, Freddie Blay, has stated that the election of former President John Mahama as Presidential candidate for the second time is a fundamental mistake by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, the party should have taken time to reflect on why former President John Mahama suffered humiliating electoral defeat in 2006 elections before electing him for the second to lead the party.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s afternoon political show – Ekosi Sen on Wednesday, the NPP National Chairman believed that the former President would have made a better political decision if he had taken his time to understand why he was rejected by Ghanaians in the 2016 general elections.
He, however, said the NDC would reject his advice because it is being offered by a political opponent, adding that when Mr. Mahama is giving another chance he will repeat the same mistakes which led to his electoral defeat in 2016.
To Mr. Blay, it is unfortunate the largest opposition party has not been able to tell Ghanaians about the issues that contributed to its electoral defeat in the 2016 elections, yet it has elected Mr. Mahama to led the party again.
On the issue of Akufo-Addo government appointing family members and friends, he completely dismissed the assertion, saying that the government cannot ignore totally personalities who campaigned to win power for the party.
