Former President Jerry John Rawlings has lauded the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission for her integrity and the great work she has done since her assumption of office.
He said the EC’s management of affairs from the supervision of referendum through to the ongoing limited voters’ registration exercise reflected her good track record and integrity.
Former President Rawlings made the commendation when Mrs Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, led a team of Commissioners of the EC to pay a courtesy call on him in Accra.
Included in the team were her two deputies – Mr Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman in-charge of Operations, and Dr Bossman Eric Asare, Deputy Chairman in-charge of Corporate Services.
The visit is part of the EC’s efforts to explain its operations to its main stakeholders and bring the commission closer to the citizenry.
The commission has in the past few weeks engaged in consultations with a number of organizations including the media and the leadership of some religious organizations .
The visits are also aimed at helping the commission to know at first-hand the concerns and issues of key stakeholders, regarding the commission and its operations.
The Former President said “your appointment made a number of people comfortable. Help make the electoral office and process a reflection of the integrity you stand for,” he said.
