Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah has been appointed to the board of Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.
This was announced at the first ever Pan – African Dialogue at Abidjan, Ivory Coast, which aims at achieving targets for adaption and mitigation of climate change.
The Global covenant of Mayors is a group of city leaders with the goal of addressing climate change and are committed to working towards achieving climate action that benefits all citizens around the world.
The Mayor is expected to work and elevate the strategic direction of the Global covenant of Mayors for climate and energy.
The Mayor will be joining distinguished group of fellow Mayors including Mayor Anne Hidalgo, Paris, France; Mayor Nanda Jichkar, Nagpur, India; Mayor Bill Peduto, Pittsburgh, USA; Mayor Luo Qiang, Chengdu, China; Mayor Tri Rismaharini, Surabaya, Indonesia; Mayor Mohamed Sefiani, Chefchaouen, Morocco; and Mayor Park Won-Soon, Seoul, South Korea working to shape this historic partnership of cities acting on climate action.
