Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu writes:
Quite curious that in the current national discussion about the excruciating hardships Ghanaians are grappling with, there has been no indication from President Akufo-Addo to cut down on his world record breaking elephantine 111 Ministers and thousands of Presidential Staffers.
His counterpart, President Mauricio Macri of Argentina whose nationals are also agitating over hardships and whose size of government was nowhere near Akufo-Addo’s has announced he’s cutting by more than half his Ministers and Ministries ahead of a US$50 billion bailout from the IMF.
(An interesting coincidence as President Akufo-Addo is similarly considering a US$50 billion Chinese Century Bond)
So apart from blaming former President Mahama and President Donald Trump, how else is the Akufo-Addo Government showing empathy for Ghanaians in these terribly difficult times?
Isn’t it time to follow President Macri’s sterling example and prune Ghana’s obese government?
